Meet Kelly, Family Nurse Practitioner & Thrill Seeker…Just Don’t Bring Her Any Snakes

Share

In continuation of Naturopathic Medicine Week, meet Dr. Kelly Engelmann, Family Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, The Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine and the American Board of Anti-Aging Health Practitioners—and of course, proud member of Sanesco’s Clinical Advisory Board. Engelmann says her proudest moment with Sanesco was “being able to help a patient struggling with anxiety and debilitating fatigue. She was returning home after taking her daughter to school to get back in bed and then get up in the afternoon and “pretend” like she had been busy all day. She had been to multiple providers prior to having the HPA testing and gaining the understanding of why she was struggling but better yet, what she could do about it. It’s rewarding to be in a position to help someone regain their energy and vitality.”

Q: What are 3 words to describe your career/practice?
“Functional/Integrative medicine; Inspiring and Dynamic.”

Q: What do you find the most challenging about your career, and practice at Enhanced Wellness Living?
“The most challenging thing about practicing functional/integrative medicine is looking for root cause issues. Patients often do not seek out the functional medicine model until late in their disease state and it’s a challenge to get them adequately assessed and educated with the most up to date information to help them reach their health goals. Having said that, I love the challenge and am inspired by my patients on a daily basis.”

Q: What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
“I love adventure! Sky diving, scuba diving—I don’t want to miss a thing! Except snakes. No snakes.”

Q: Favorite quote?
“The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.” ~Thomas Edison

Engelmann’s bucket list will soon have two items checked off: she’s going to Europe in June 2017, and will watch her 3rd grand baby be born in May 2017. Still waiting to be checked off: “A yoga retreat in Bali, and a trip to Kauai during whale migration.”

Q: Two things you couldn’t live without?
“The presence of God, and chocolate, of course.”
